How We Keep Your Books Right: The ASK-VERIFY-BOOK-FLAG Method
Most bookkeepers just record what they’re given. We were built to catch what’s missing. About 90% of new clients come to us with transactions that were never recorded or were recorded wrong. We call them the ghosts on the balance sheet. Every account we manage goes through four steps:
ASK: We ask about anything we can’t identify instead of guessing.
VERIFY: We check every entry against bank statements and source documents.
BOOK: We record it correctly in QuickBooks Online.
FLAG: We flag anything unusual so you hear about it from us first.

Meet Bev Ottone, Founder of CanAm Bookkeeping
I’m Bev Ottone, and I founded CanAm Bookkeeping in March 2020. Before that, I spent 28 years at IHG Hotels, working my way up from fitness club attendant to Director of Global Technology in Finance, where I oversaw a budget of about $300 million. I then served as controller and HR director for a multi-location retail business.
That experience taught me how money really moves through a business, and where it goes missing. I built CanAm to bring that same discipline to small businesses. Today, my team of trained bookkeepers manages the books for more than 100 clients across the U.S., using the system I designed and the review process I built. In 2025, CanAm was named to Best of Georgia in Accounting.
